Top Franchise Opportunities
Franchise business is the best business invention according to many business owners. An individual who wants to start a business does not even have to crack their head in order to come up with a great business strategy. All they have to do is to follow the guidelines provided by the top managers of the company.
The listing of top franchises can be found widely on the Internet. One such website is Entrepreneur.com. This website features top franchises each year and the list goes on to list companies up to the 500th ranking. Based on the listing Entreprenuer.com comes up with, we are going to look at the top three companies that manage to appear on the list for the year 2005.
The top franchise listing starts with Subway leading all the other companies. Founded in 1965 by Fred DeLuca and Peter Buck, who is a family friend, the company started as Pete’s Super Submarines in Bridgeport, Connecticut. With the loan of one thousand dollar from Buck, DeLuca started the business, hoping the small sandwiches will help him to get through college. After some struggling years, the company changed its name to Subway and began franchising in 1974.
The second top franchise is Curves. This women only fitness center does not start with the same objective. It actually originated from the effort taken by Gary Heavin who took over a failing fitness center and turned it into a success in 1992. After 5 years, Heavin managed to open six more branches. Unfortunately, the business starts losing its touch. Not giving in to the challenge, Heavin applied the lessons he learned from its first branch and opened a second chain. In 1992, Heavin opened Curves for Women in Texas. The franchising began in 1995.
Quiznos Sub comes in the third place of the top franchises. It began in the 1981, when the first recipe was born in the kitchen of Footer’s Italian Restaurant in Denver. Footer’s owner used the baguette-style bread, red wine vinaigrette dressing and tuna salad. The menu was invented in the kitchen to begin the new venture, as the opening of Quizno’s first branch in Denver in 1981. Not only Quizno’s offer sandwiches but it also serves soups and salads. About 20 years later, Quizno’s branches are scattered all over the world, including United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and United Kingdom.
These three top franchises have been able to maintain their position based on their hard work for years. It is not easy to set up a business but for the founders of these companies, challenges are just another step away from success. |
